The important event in Gn 11 is when God switched around the languages to make building the tower more difficult. The first thing that happened is that the whole world had the same language and they all migrated from the east to a valley in the land of Shinar and settled there. Next they said “Come, let us mold bricks and harden them with fire” and “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky, and so make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered all over earth”. Then the Lord confused their language so that nobody will understand each other. Finally, the town was called Babel because there the Lord confused the speech of all the world and from there the Lord scattered them over all the Earth
Hey! How are you?
I'm living I guess, It would be better with shelter though
I am doing Genesis 11
In a world... where people came from the east to the same village in the land of Shinar and spoke the same language...
These people wanted to settle in this village, so they thought that they should build "a city and a tower with its top in the sky" (Which was basically symbolism that they're going to hell and they wanted to go to heaven by building a tower)
They start building and then...
God says "Switch around their languages to confuse them while making this tower and village!" And that is why it's called the village of Babel, because babel means a scene of noisy confusion.
