Storyboard Description

Teachers' and Students' Rights

Storyboard Text

  • Ugh, there is Mr. Brown. I'm so sick of his unprofessional conduct when he uses profanity and refers to kids with vulgar or obscene words.
  • Profanity
  • I read about this court case called where a teacher got fired for using profanity when referring to students. I wish Mr. Brown would get fired.
  • #$@%&!! You little %&($#@!!
  • I heard about that court case.. it was Ware v. Morgan County School District in Colorado in 1988.
  • I heard that a teacher can be charged with a felony for sexual conduct with a student. Do you think it's true?
  • Sexual Conduct
  • Well it sure displays immorality. I just looked it up and found a case in New York, it's called Weaver v. Board of Edu. of Pine Plains.
  • What is wrong with people these days? It's an obvious showcase of misconduct in office.
  • A teacher was fired for cohabitating with a 16 year-old student.
  • I thought you said I was protected by the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the district couldn't fire me? If they can fire me for being old they should be able to fire you for being obese!
  • Age and Obesity
  • Thanks to cases like Kuhar v. Greensburg-Salem S.D., they have to prove nexus (or a connection) between our age (or my obesity) and our ability to teach effectively.
  • Excessive Drinking
  • Did you guys hear about Mr. Brown getting a misdemeanor for being drunk in public last weekend? I bet he's hoping that the criminal indictment doesn't get him fired.
  • He better hope that his case gets acquitted unlike the case of Dickinson v. Aaron where the teacher got fired for drinking related crimes.
  • Mr. Principal I am trying very hard to learn perfect English so that my students can better understand me. It is moral turpitude to fire me for my accent.
  • Reasonable Accommodations
  • Just like the case Ambach v. Norwick, we have to wait to renew your contract until you become a legal citizen.
  • Thank you for reading my storyboard about Chapter 14- Teachers' and Students' Rights
  • He sure is the perfect image of immoral conduct, with his swearing and excessive drinking.
  • I'm all for reasonable accommodations, which is in place due to the Equal Protection Clause, but I can't allow you to work here because of your immigration staus.
