This is Ream, she is 17 going on 18. she was forced to immigrate here to Indiana from Syria due to poor living conditions and the hope for a better life, her three younger siblings were sent with her for her to raise.
Based off a true story of a friend of mine who was forced out of her home to escape their previous life. raising her siblings up by herself.
She came here illegally, her family payed someone to smuggle her and her siblings over into the US, she found her grandparents in Chicago. and they helped her become legal
17, on her own in a new place, left to care for her brothers and sister all by herself.
Though she still had to make it on her own raising 3 kids, she told me that it was rare for her to get any sleep. Not because of the kids but because she was just under so much stress, out of nowhere she had to pick up her whole life and leave.
We met in high school, became close friends, and she told me all about her story, how shes had to juggle raising her brothers and sister, getting a job to support them and herself, while trying to go to school at the same time.
Nothing was ever easy, she had to do everything, and rarely could catch a break. i would try to help her with the kids but as soon as one thing went right, 2 things went wrong
