Storyboard Text

  • Define the Problem
  • Should I try the Juul or not?
  • Um, I don't know, Sally. Let me think about it.
  • Hey Joni, I tried this Juul the other day and thought it was pretty cool. It is cherry flavored. Wanna try it?
  • Examine Your Options
  • I have been curious about Juuls, so I could try it just this one time. I don't know. Maybe I should just say no thanks.
  • Ok. Just let me know what you decide.
  • Hey Sally. Wassup?
  • If I don't try the Juul, I will avoid breathing in dangerous chemicals like glycerol, but Sally might think I'm lame.
  • Consider the Outcomes
  • If I try the Juul, Sally might think I'm cool, but I could also get addicted from the nicotine. I've heard one of those equals a pack of cigarettes.
  • Oh hey, Scott. Not much. You?
  • Nah. Just sittin' here thinking about how I tanked that math test yesterday.
  • If I believe it is important to be accepted by my peers, then I will try the Juul.
  • On the bus ride to school the other morning, Joni gets offered a Juul from her friend Sally.
  • Identify Your Values
  • If my health is more important to me, then I will not try the Juul.
  • Joni turns to look out the window and listen to her tunes while she thinks about some of her choices in this situation.
  • Decide and Act
  • I'm going to pass on trying the Juul. Thanks anyway, Sally.
  • Sally talks to their friend, Scott, while Joni thinks about the pros and cons of the options for trying a Juul.
  • Evaluate the Decision
  • Not trying the Juul was a good choice because now I will not become a smoker since most teens who vape end up smoking cigarettes within two years.
  • Joni is relieved that Sally is distracted talking to Scott while she thinks about how her beliefs will affect her decision.
  • Same! That test was so hard!
  • No doubt! Guess I'll be retaking that test, too.
  • After considering her options, the pros and cons of the options and what is important to her, Joni decides not to try the Juul.
  • That's cool. Looks like we're at school. See you in health class.
  • Before heading into school, Joni takes a quick second to think about why her decision to say no to the Juul was a good choice.
