Storyboard Text

  • The small town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A quiet and beautiful town that specialized in shoemaking. The town was filled with gardens and churches.
  • It all started when General Lee and his trusted general, Stonewall Jackson, decided to head further North. They were soon confronted by General Hooker, of the Union, and the battle started on July 1st, 1863.
  • July First, the Confederates were suffering from lack of enemy information. They were unaware the the Union soldiers heading to the town, and pushed them back on cemetary hill. They fought, confederated in defensive stances.
  • You can never defeat us! We're invincible!
  • July second, Lee ordered an attack on the union. The union and the confederacy were fighting over Little Round Top, a hill that was a easy place to fire upon. The fighting was extremely bloody and lasted till nightfall.
  • Little Round Top will be ours!
  • July third, George Pickett, of the Confederacy, led an attack on cemetery hill. 15k men took place in this battle. They were showered with cannon fire and eventually retreated.
  • CHARGE!
  • Gettysburg was a turning point in the war. The Union gained a lot of hope and patriotism. Britain and France refused to help the Confederacy. There were 51k casualties.
  • November 19, 1863. The Gettysburg address, a dedication ceremony where Lincoln honeyed the bravery of the soldiers. Short, but moving, and he remained people why the war was being fought.
  • "A new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."
