Electrons are passed from one member of the transport chain to another Energy released in these reactions is captured as a proton gradient, as electrons are passed down the chain they release hydrogen
At electrons are transferred to molecular oxygen, which splits in half and takes up hydrogen to produce water. Then in the last part the ADP passes through the ATP synthase adding a phosphate and creating ATP and that's the end of cellular respiration
