Evidence! The tomb must be close!
We've looked throughout the whole valley, and we still have yet to find it!
British archaeologist Howard Carter and his backer, Lord Carnarvon, are looking for evidence of King Tut's tomb in the country of Egypt.
Cover it back up! We must wait for Carnarvon.
Carter had scoured most of the area already, but there was one spot left. A jar was found which was used in King Tutankhamen's funeral. This gave him hope to find the tomb.
He found it!!
Lord Carnarvon was ready to give up hope, but Howard Carter pressed on. He ordered the digging crew to work on the spot they had not yet dug at.
We have our work cut out for us.
While Lord Carnarvon was away, Lord Carter uncovered the stairway to what was believed the tomb of King Tut. This was a huge discovery, but Carter had to wait for Lord Carnarvon back in Europe. Carter covered the stairway again after his huge discovery.
Carnarvon received a letter from Howard Carter, stating, "At last have made a wonderful discovery in Valley. A magnificent tomb with seals intact. Recovered same for your arrival. Congratulations." In due time, Lord Carnarvon returned to Egypt.
Then Carter uncovered the stairway and broke the seal. A tomb full of treasured would be found behind that ancient doorway. Carter planned on taking the artifacts to museums. He knew in would be a long but wondrous process to get his hands on the treasures.
