Storyboard Text

  • "Upon the 8th night I was more than usually cautious in opening the door."
  • "I had my head in, and was about to open the lantern, when my thumb slipped upon the tin fastening, and the old man sprang up in the bed, crying out---"Who's there?""
  • "With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped in the room. He shrieked once---once only. In an instant I dragged him to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him."
  • The narrator spent a week watching the old man before he killed him.
  • "I then took up three planks from the floorings of the chamber, and deposited all between the scantlings."
  • The old man wakes up and opens his eyes.
  • "They sat, and while I answered cheerily, they chatted of familar things."
  • The light shines on the old man's eye, and the old man's heart beat gets so loud the narrator kills him.
  • "Villans! dissemble no more! I admit the deed!---tear up the planks!---here, here!---it is the beating of his hideous heart."
  • The narrator disposes of the old man's body.
  • Police show up and search the house. The narrator had a conversation with the police.
  • The narrator confesses to the police that he murdered the old man.
