  • The revolution has started.
  • Free the prisoners!
  • This shows how king Louis the 16th and the queen spent lavishly. France's dept was high after helping America. The 3rd estate was not happy with what the king was doing because of high prices, starvation and heavy taxes. Soon this will lead to rebelles rioting, looting, and striking.

  • There was a disagreement amongst the 3rd estate with the two estates about voting. They wanted their votes to matter because they made up 98% of the population so they formed the National Assembly d to eliminate the power of the king.
  • The Paris mob armed itself due to presence of foreign troops in the streets of Paris so they attacked a fortress to obtain 30,000 muskets. They moved on to the Bastille, a prison which had been viewed as a symbol of the king's absolute authority. The mob attacked the Bastille and released the seven prisoners inside.
