  • I need to call 9-1-1!
  • Hello,, 9-1-1. I am having a cardiac emergency!
  • Operator:Start preforming 100 compression per minute, help is on the way.
  • Recognition: The man is watching TV at home. He suddenly recognizes the early warning signs of a cardiac emergency.
  • Operator: Grab the closet AED.Turn on the AED and follow the steps. Place the pads where is shown on each of them. The unit will tell you to stay clear to help jump start the heart. Once done keep preforming CRP until units are on scene.
  • Activation of EMS: The man activates the EMS system by calling 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 dispatcher provides prearrival instructions for the man.
  • This is the address, let's go! BSI! Get the bags!
  • Immediate High-Quality CPR: Jimmy's grandson and his wife come home to see their grandpa on the floor, notices that someone is on the phone and puts them on speaker. He then realizes its 911 and they ask him to preform CRP.  
  •  Patient is a 74 Y.O. male, managed to call 911 but was found unresponsive by family member who provided initial CPR and AED. On arrival we found patient still unresponsive so proceeded to.... 
  • Rapid Defibrillation: The grandson and his wife start the AED process and continues compressions. 
  • AED
  • Basic and Advanced EMS: EMTs arrive at the scene and prepare patient for transport to ED while continuing to provide CPR.
  • Advanced Life Support and postarrest care: Further care and support are provided to improve recovery. A patients best chance of survival depends on the continuity of these events.
