Storyboard Text

  • Im going to be the head manager, what can you tell me about the management styles
  • Anything else you want to ask me ?
  • Mexico's management style tends to be paternalistic as is often found in strongly hierarchical cultures
  • What can I do to be a good manager ?
  • A good manager combines an authoritative approach with a concern for the well-being and dignity of employees. It is important to show that you are in control but at the same time have a warm, human touch.
  • Any tips on how to treat my subordinates ?
  • It is considered to poor behaviour to criticize others in public, as its an insult. Being openly criticized in public results in a loss of self-esteem and personal dignity.
  • Also when giving Instructions they should be told clearly and precisely so subordinates can be expected to follow those instructions with little or no discussion.
  • What should I expect as manager ?
  • As relationship bonds run deep in Mexican culture, the manager should expect loyalty. In return for this loyalty, the manager will look after the interests of subordinates.
