On September 1st, 1939, Adolf Hitler launched his attack on Poland. This battle, spanning only one month, would trigger WWII.Germany would be victorious, taking over Poland.
Following the invasion, both France and Britain declared war on Germany, with neither being properly prepared for war.
We declare war!
Execution squads murdered thousands of Poles, and expelled millions from their homes.
Poland's occupation ended in 1945 with Germany's defeat.
By the end of the war, over 5 million Poles were killed, with over 3 million of them being Jews.
