  • Economic Problems- •inflation •world wide depression •unemployment
  • Weak Government-      •doubts about Weimar Republic •political quarrel       •wish to return to a strong leader
  • Leadership- •used terror and force •idea of super race •shift of blame to minority groups
  • Hitler's campaing
  • The Kaiser stepped down. Gernamny was in chaos. The Weimar Republic agreed to the harsh terms of the Treaty Of Versailles. This caused the people to become mad.
  • Hitler is the new chancellor.
  • Ladies and Gentlemen,the new chancellor!
  • These were all causes that helped the Nazi's to gain power in Germany.
  • Hitler as dictator
  • Hitler promised to make new jobs, rebuild German nationalism. He said that the German race was superior and they were destined to create a new empire.
  • Totalitarianism in Nazi Germany
  • •Government used censorship •Anti-Semitism: Jews lost their property, their citizenship, their shops and synagogues were destroyed. Forced to wear the yellow star of David on clothing. Moved to the ghettos and concentration camps. •Agricultural and industrial production was controlled. Labor unions & strikes were outlawed.
  • In 1920 Hitler was head of the National Socialist German Workers or Nazi party. In 1933,Hitler was named chancellor.
  • Hitler called his new Germany the Third Reich. He established a totalitarian state.
  • In a totalitarian state the people lost some rights.
