Mike Marjama was a baseball professional baseball player in the MLB who gave his career up for his calling to help others. When he was young he suffered from an eating disorder, now he spreads awareness.
It really started when his friend encouraged him to join his school's wrestling team. From then on Mike learned how to lose weight, eventually leading to binging as well.
Thankfully Mike's parents noticed their sons changing behavior and appearance, which led to him being on the road to recovery.
Mike was checked in as an inpatient at a center for treatment. He talks about his treatment today stating, "I ran away from them for a long time. When I went through treatment, I actually had to learn to live with them."
Later in life, he made a career in baseball. Though Mike did not have the longest professional career, he decided to use his voice for something close to him.
Today, Mike is an ambassador for the National Eating Disorder Association and travels the country helping others who have struggled with similar issues.
