  • Civil War Photography
  • I am known for taking pictures of camp life and portraits between 1844-1857
  • I took pictures of the dead on the field. I started to do portraits in 1861
  • I am Mathew Brady and I took picture of the battles of Fredricksburg and Gettysburg.
  • I am Alexander Gardner and I took pictures of the Battle of Antietam. We took pictures for families back home.
  • We did a process called Daguerreotype for our photographs.
  • It was invented in 1839.
  • Alexander Gardner took pictures of the suspects who killed Lincoln when they were executed.
  • The pictures taken during the War helps us understand what camp life was like for the soldiers.
  • The North must be feeling horrible right now....
