Storyboard Text

  • Title
  • Paraphrase
  • Connotation
  • My original idea about the story has changed a little bit than what I first thought; the poem had more depth than what I had expected. The title of the poem means a a place of heart's desire, but at the beginning I thought it would have something to do with a Spanish background.
  • Attitude
  • A young knight begins a search for Eldorado. As he grows old and begins to die, he starts to lose hope. Then he meets a shadow and it tells him he will find Eldorado when he is dead.
  • Shift
  • This story could have the meaning of losing hope. It means you can not always get what you want in life. Some words that set the connotation for me are, "shadow, old, failed, and Valley of the Shadow."
  • Theme
  • The attitude for this poem started out hopeful, but then changed to disappointment. As a young knight, he was very determined to find Eldorado, then as an old man he started losing hope in ever finding it.
  • There is a shift when the knight grows older; he starts to lose hope in finding Eldorado.
  • The overall theme of this poem is do not waste your entire life with only one unachievable goal or you will make yourself miserable trying to do the impossible.
