Matthias Jacob Schleiden was born on April 5, 1804 in Hamburg, Germany.
As a child, Schleiden loved plants and dreamed of becoming a botanist.
He ended up studying at the University of Jena then practiced law at Heidelberg.
He quit law school to become a scientist.
I'm done with law school!
All cells are made from other cells.
Schleiden continued Robert Hooke's cell theory work and became the co-founder of cell theory.
Schleiden died on June 23, 1881, in Frankfurt, Germany.
