On the bright, sunny morning of June 27th the people of the small village are preparing for the lottery. Mr. Summers, the man in front, is in charge of the Lottery. Everyone else is anxiously waiting to see who's names will be called.
Tessie is claiming that it wasn't fair and her husband was rushed to pick a piece of paper. She does not want to get stones thrown at her.
