The Animals live in fear of the cruel tyrant Farmer Jones. They are overworked and underfed. They hold no hope for the liberation of the Manor Farm.
Napoleon the pig instills hope in the Animals. The Animals win the Battle of the Cowshed. The Revolution is over. The farm is renamed "Animal Farm."
The pigs create the Seven Commandments of Animalism
Four legs good, two legs bad!
Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. No animal shall wear clothes. No animal shall sleep in a bed. No animal shall drink alcohol. No animal shall kill any other animal. All animals are equal.
Comrades: by order of Napoleon, rations will be cut down by 20% until the mill is completed. Work hours will be doubled. Pigs will henceforth take charge of all offspring. Long live Animal Farm!
Work begins on Napoleon's mill. Snowball suddenly disappears. Napoleon becomes the sole leader of Animal Farm.
Comrades: the Mill is gone! It must be Snowball! He has betrayed the ideals of Animal Farm. He is a traitor, comrades!
The pigs move into the farmhouse.
No Animal shall sleep in a bed...with sheets.
No Animal shall kill another Animal...without cause.
