In class, we read a few chapters from the book Persepolis, by Marjane Satrapi. I found it odd that women in Islam did not have the same rights as men.
Why should we destroy each other's self esteem when we can empower each other?
In the chapters I read, I saw how women were forced to wear veils that hid their hair. If they didn't, they were verbally abused & mistreated by the public. Women were restricted from some rights that men had.
She's so weird!
What bothered me the most is that women who wore the veils JUDGED women who didn't, & also treated them lesser than they are.
Me being the feminist that I am, I felt that women shouldn't have been forced to wear veils or do things that they don't want to do.
Women & girls are constantly being put down everyday, so why couldn't women in the Islamic Revolution stick together & fight for their rights? (I'm not saying that they all have to be feminists, but why not stand up for each other at least?)
As women, we should all stick together & empower each other to succeed. We are a pretty strong gender & together we can overcome obstacles. Girls can do anything boys can!
