  • Chapter 1
  • Chapter 2
  • Daisy! Daisy! Daisy!
  • Chapter 3
  • In this scene, the symbol is the green light, which represents Gatsby's hopes and dreams of Daisy. This is important for the chapter because we get a hint that something has previously happened between Daisy and Gatsby and he misses it.
  • Chapter 5
  • I'd like to just get one of those pink clouds and put you in it and push you around
  • In this scene, Myrtle is yelling out Daisy's name in front of Tom, who ends up hitting her and breaking her nose. This is important because Tom is beginning to have conflicts with his mistress .
  • Chapter 6
  • In this scene, Nick thinks back to a Saturday morning when Gatsby's butler brings him an invitation to a party. This is very important because it sparks the friendship that Nick and Gatsby will later have.
  • Chapter 7
  • In this scene, the symbol is the spark that is coming back between Daisy and Gatsby. This is important because it starts the beginning of what they used to have with each other awhile back.
  • In this scene, the symbol is Gatsby hinting at Tom and teasing him. They are at a party together and Gatsby is teasing Tom calling him the "polo player". This is important because it was the beginning of the conflict between the two.
  • Polo PLayer
  • This scene symbolizes the death of Myrtle and also the end of Tom's affair. This is important because Tom's "back up" is no longer an option for him to fall back on.
