Global warming is happening faster than it seems. Our recent methods of survival come with a price.
Imagine if all of the arctic ice plains melted.
Arctic animals almost extinct. Extinction leading to warm climate animal species multiplying. The ozone layer wearing farther and farther down.
Ever since the Industrial Revolution we have been pumping fossil fuels into the air. You might think, “Well our planet has survived us evolving before, so why can’t it now?” Well, it isn’t the same. Our planet’s climate has increased about 40% since 1950. That isn’t even a second in how long the Earth has been around and we’ve caused more damage in 60 years than in 50 million. It is causing extreme weather patterns such as extreme cold, extreme hot, and more natural disasters.
Now you’re probably thinking, how does this have to do with population growth? Well I like to refer back to the quote by Sir David Attenborough, “Instead of controlling the environment for the benefit of the population, maybe we should control the population to ensure the survival of our environment.” Maybe we shouldn’t let people have so many babies. This isn’t 19 kids and counting! We should put restrictions on how many babies are born.
The less people we have then the less factories pumping unhealthy material into the air, and overall less harvesting of our natural resources. We keep our oceans, our plains, our hillsides, our air, and our water clean.
