Sherlock and Watson were attempting to deduct who could own the hat, with great success coming from the detective.
When Peterson came in with the very object they were trying to find, the blue carbuncle. Apparently, he found it in a goose, and after telling his story, Sherlock and Watson were off to find the crook.
First, they went to the Alpha Inn, where they were told that the goose had originated from the Covent Garden.
Once there, Holmes managed to trick the angry Breckinridge to give up information on where he bought his geese from, Oakshott.
As the two were heading off, though, a suspicious man came by, James Ryder, who seemed to be just the person they were looking for.
After being blamed for the crime of stealing the gem, Ryder gave in and told everything about his plan. Eventually he was let go, and they lived happily ever after. The end?
