First I need to explain checks and balances. A check is like a limit. Each branch has different checks or limits it can do to one another. This balances everything out so not one branch is more powerful than the other.
First let me explain checks and balances. A check is like a limit. Each branch has checks or limits that they can use against the other branches. This balances everything out so no branch gets too powerful.
There is two parties that I would like to explain to you, the federalists and the anti-federalists. Lets start with the federalists.
The federalists believe that a strong government is needed to protect people from threats. They also believe that we need to ratify the constitution as soon as possible to strengthen the nation and to prevent chaos.
But then the anti-federalists believe that the central government is too strong and could become abusive of power. They also believe that the constitution does not provide enough protection for people's rights. Also they are saying that they will not ratify the constitution until a bill of rights is added.
