Perry and his platoon are going on patrol in a Village. Their mission is too check out the village and look for any Vietcong. Everyone is on high alert. It's very suspenseful as move toward the village.
Perry and his platoon go into a village. They immediately start going into the huts. What they find is burnt huts and dead bodies. It's chaotic and hectic. All the soldiers are ready for anything and tensions are high.
Perry decides to go check in a hut like the rest of platoon was doing. As he goes in the hut he is caught by surprise by a Vietcong who attempts to shoot him but the Cong's gun malfunctions. Perry kills the Cong point plank. Perry is rocked to the core, scared and nervous through the ordeal.
While at camp Perry along with the rest of his platoon still can't get over all the death and destruction that they just saw. It's especially hard for Perry who had just killed for the first time. Perry and his platoon are tense and have trouble dealing what they just experienced.
Perry still can't get over the fact that the just killed for the first time and what he had just seen. Perry can't sleep because, of this and PeeWee comes to help comfort him. PeeWee sleeps with Perry to further help comfort him. It's the first time he's killed someone and he's a "killer" but doesn't feel good about it.
