Grade 11 Religion Project
Today was Kirra's 15th birthday and she couldn't be more excited to meet the shaman for the first time and finally embark on her vision quest!
Shaman! I'm here to start my vision quest!
After meeting with the Shaman, Kirra needed to find a sacred place. As she's walking she comes across a beautiful river with an abandoned lodge. She uses this place to reflect and prepare for her quest.
Before she can begin, she needs to pray and fast. This is very important rule that she must follow. This process is to purify the mind, body and spirit.
After Kirra is finished with her praying and fasting she can now enter the Sweat Lodge to the vision of her spirit guide. While in their she envisions a giraffe in the beautiful safari. This is very important because what she is seeing should supposedly give her information about her future!
After her vision she needs to return home. When returning home she meets with the shaman and tells her about the whole vision. The shaman gives her great advice and tells her what she thinks about the vision.
The elder tells Kirra that a giraffe is a great sign. A giraffe sign is good because its the power of silence. While they have a tongue that spans over 20" it rarely makes noise. The giraffe also has other meanings like flexibility, intuition, gentleness, and kindness.
