  • Luxury fabric such as silks and furs, were widely available.
  • Both Venice and Florence passed laws, which restricted the wearing of luxarious clothing to specific classes to society
  • The wealthy couldn't resist showing off their fine fabric.
  • Rich families dressed their servants in lavish clothing aswell.
  • The clothing that the wealthy wore said a lot about the social status about the wearer.
  • Ladies outfits started with a shift and stockings, and finally a petticoat
  • Men started to wear stockings and heels before women did
  • Men would wear a shirt, a doublet, or a fitted top, and finally a jerkin, a fitted jacket
  • Michel Angelo, Leonardo De Vinci, and Rapheal were all famous artists that painted self portraits
