  • Anglo-American immigrants
  • New dictator of Mexico
  • Battle of Gonzales
  • They hoped they would become loyal Mexican citizens and keep the territory from falling to the United States.
  • Battle of the alamo
  • The new dictator is Antonio Lopez and he overthrew the constitution and appointed himself dictator. He treated the Mexican Americans harshly and attacked them.
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • The battle of Gonzales happened when the Mexicans gave the Mexican-Americans a cannon and their relationship deteriorated and they went to take the cannon back. It had big significance it gave the Mexican Americans hope.
  • Texas Statehood
  • It was a 13 long day siege at the alamo when the Mexicans went after the alamo and fought the Mexican Americans who were outnumbered but, still won.
  • What happened in this battle was when Sam Houston launched a suprise attack against the forces Mexican general Santa Anna along the San Jacinto river. The Mexicans were defeated and hundreds were taken prisoner.
  • Texas became a state in December 29, 1845 and the issue was Texas was a slave state and that would upset the balance of slave to non-slave states.
