Storyboard Text

  • The theme of this novel is the cost of greed. This is because Scrooge never donates and is always just a grumpy man. Although he only realizes this trough when Marley and the three ghosts come to warn/ teach him about what will happen if he does not change.
  • Theme
  • "I am here tonight to warn you that you have a chance and hope of escaping my fate".
  • This shows indirect characterization since as Scrooge waits for the first spirit he is very nervous trough his dialogue, and actions. Scrooge in fact didn't sleep at all and he waited a very long time for the spirit to come. This is a case where Dickens trys to show he is afraid indirectly.
  • Indirect Characterization
  • "The hour itself...and nothing else".
  • This is an internal conflict because when Scrooge is at his counting house he has a clerk named Bob. With Bob he is a great worker, but scrooge just doesn't trust him. He thinks he might be slacking off on his work, which is just an internal problem with Scrooge not being able to trust him.
  • Internal Conflict
  • Scrooge kept an eye on his clerk, who was in s dismal little cell beyond.
  • This Ghost of Christmas past symbolizes how the spirit will shed light on Scrooges past. Although Scrooge is like the cap the ghost has in it's hands. Scrooges trys to ignore his past and "extinguish" it. Instead of excepting what happened and move on with life.
  • Symbolism
  • From the crown of its head sprang light and it held a great extinguisher cap.
  • As scrooge looks at his former lonely self he begins to feel emotions. His heart started to melt and he felt sadness as he remembered not being able to go home for Christmas. This is indirectly showing his emotions trough actions since he starts to cry.
  • Indirect Characterization
  • Scrooge knew it and he sobbed
  • "A solitary child neglected by his friends"
  • The Ghost of Christmas Future is unable to talk, he only is able to point. This symbolizes how you can not speak the future. You are only able to "point" and predict what will happen according to the choices you make. Just like how the spirit shows Scrooge his future if he does not change and if he keeps his choices.
  • "I am in the presence of the Ghost of Christmas future?"
  • Symbolism
  • The spirit answered not, but pointed onward.
