  • Pay of Continental Soldier At The End Of The War
  • For your duty in the Revolutionary War. Here is certificate to honor you. It'll be worth 25 continentals in 3 months.
  • What! This is an outrage you promised us future funds and lands.
  • Massachusetts Debt
  • To pay off our debt the legislature has decided to raise taxes and in cash.
  • August 29th In North Hampton
  • We're taking this place down!
  • The continental soldiers were paid by a certificate, but most needed money so they had to sell them a discounted price. Which was not fair because they were promised future funds and lands but did not receive those funds or lands.
  • September 25th - 28th
  • Closed do to rebels taking over.
  • The Massachusetts legislature due to the war debt they raised taxes and demanded to payed in hard cash. Since many soldiers mortgaged their land so could not pay their debt. They were shocked because they were continental soldiers who were promised lands.
  • Shays' New Plan
  • Yeah!
  • We will launch a surprise attack on the court!
  • On August 29th a group of armed farmers shut down the Hampshire County Court of Common Pleas in Northampton. This happened after the legislature ignored all the farmers demands and petitions.
  • The Editor Of The Massachusetts Centinel's Observation
  • From September 25th to 28th Shays and 600 other armed farmers held the Springfield courthouse. The result of this was the governor of Boston told General Lincoln to muster 4400 troops to protect the courts.
  • Shays' new plan was to mount a surprise attack to overrun the federal arsenal. The rebellion needed a new plan once they realized that they were going against a organized militia. Instead of going as planned the arsenal opened fire killed 4 injured 20.
  • The editor of the Massachusetts Centinel saw that insurrections in the Commonwealth, the cause of bringing the government into existence at a much earlier period. This means that the rebellion had to happen. I believe this because it showed the AC was weak.
  • Maybe the rebellion had to happen.
