Storyboard Text

  • Hi. My name is Emily and I'm gonna bake a cake for my mother's birthday.
  • Hmmm... I just put in the oil. What should I put in next??? I guess I'll put some baking soda in.
  • Time to mix the oil and baking soda!
  • Oh no! My cake is exploding!!! What am I gonna do??? I better call Mrs. Sheinbein!
  • Hi. It's Emily. I was baking a cake for my mom and when I added the baking soda to the oil, everything exploded!!! Btw, the oil smelled weird. Kind of like vinegar.
  • Check the oil label again. You probably accidentally used vinegar instead of oil. There was a chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda-carbon dioxide was produced and that's what made the bubbles.
  • Thanks to Mrs. Sheinbein, I learned all about chemical reactions. I also learned to double check the labels of everything before I make a big mess!!
