Hi. My name is Emily and I'm gonna bake a cake for my mother's birthday.
Hmmm... I just put in the oil. What should I put in next??? I guess I'll put some baking soda in.
Time to mix the oil and baking soda!
Oh no! My cake is exploding!!! What am I gonna do??? I better call Mrs. Sheinbein!
Hi. It's Emily. I was baking a cake for my mom and when I added the baking soda to the oil, everything exploded!!! Btw, the oil smelled weird. Kind of like vinegar.
Check the oil label again. You probably accidentally used vinegar instead of oil. There was a chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda-carbon dioxide was produced and that's what made the bubbles.
Thanks to Mrs. Sheinbein, I learned all about chemical reactions. I also learned to double check the labels of everything before I make a big mess!!
