Wait! These were worth more than that in England. They're new. You can have them, to pay for the medicine and some fresh bread.
Your much too pretty and see how sickly white you are!
No you won't. You're not the sort I want at all. A flirter. I should have known from your fancy name. I'm going to find myself a reliable plain Jane.
Mr Hutch will have it from me that the right Miss Beddows didn't make it.
I've been ill with fever. I'm recovering. I'll work well for you.
But Mr Hutch-
Letty decided to trade clean and new linen out of Lavinia's chest for two bread rolls and medicine from the doctor for Lavinia. The medicine was working. Letty's hopes were lifting, in the meantime Jemima and her mother recovered.
By the time they got to Australia Lavinia had recovered fully and was back to her normal self. Letty was overjoyed. After they got off the ship they waited for Mr Hutch who was the person Lavinia was going to work for. But instead Mrs Hutch came and didn't like Lavinia so she refused to take her. Now Lavinia and Letty had no where to stay.
Luckily for them one of the ship crew members Seman Jones whom Letty made friends with on the ship offered them his place until they find their own place. So Lavinia and Letty took off with Seman Jones to his place. They left the chest behind because Letty told Lavinia she used what was in it to trade for medcine and bread.
