  • Heroin Injection Leads to HIV & Liver Damage Caused By Alcohol Cnsumption
  • Do you know that drinking alcohol to a certain extent can damage your liver?
  • The liver can only process alcohol to a certain amount. When it exceeds, problems may arise.
  • The liver breaks down and filters out harmful substances. 
  • Liver also needs a proper amount of water to work properly, as liver enters your liver it dehydrates you and forced liver to seek other water source.
  • An enzyme is produced once alcohol enters the liver, acetaldehyde.
  • liver cells are damaged and replaced by scar tissue because of chronic inflammation. This is called cirrhosis
  • Fatty liver: Too much fat can build up in your liver if you drink more than the liver can handle. This can cause inflammation and fatty liver disease.
  • The inflammation of liver which cause swelling and tenderness of liver, so called Alcoholic Hepatitis.
  • Those who inject heroin have 22 times higher risk of getting HIV
  • This is caused by the sharing of needles used by heroin users. 
  • When people with HIV inject heroin (or any other type of injections), the blood containing the virus is left behind in the syringe and needle.
  • If the syringe is used by others, they will be contaminated with the HIV virus from the previous user.
  • During an injection, some blood goes into the needle and syringe.
