  • Zaroff: Well, have you thought of my proposal to stay on the island and hunt with me? I'm not rushing you, because you still have to 2 days to give me an answer. Rainsford: I know my answer already, I would like to go home! I was raised to respect life, even though I killed for sport. I've fought in a war and partook in my fair share of slaughter, but what you suggest is barbaric. Men are not meant to be hunted! We are the predators, not the prey.    Zaroff: Very well, I will wait till tomorrow to ask you again. Don't fret, for I am a man of my word. If after these 2 days you have not changed your mind then, I will send you to the town like we discussed. Good day Mr.Rainsford, I hope you do think over my proposal again.
  • Zaroff: Another day has passed Mr. Rainsford. What do you have to say to my proposal? Rainsford: My answer is still NO Zaroff. I want to go home. Zaroff: I don't understand why you still refuse my proposal, deep down you know it is right. This is in your blood, after all you're the first person to ever beat me in my hunt.  You know I am right, eventually you will become bored from your own hunt, until the only thing that can satisfy you is my type of hunt.  Rainsford: I can only pray that I do not turn out as deluded as you, Zaroff. Even if I did agree with you, let's think about this logically. How do you know that I will not turn on you and kill you or free the rest of the humans? How could you trust me knowing that I don't agree with your methods? Zaroff: I see you are on the fence still Mr.Rainsford. Tomorrow is the last day to give your answer and maybe you will go home.
  • Zaroff: Well, today is your last day for your response to my proposal. What is your answer? Rainsford: My answer is the same as it has been since Day 1 Zaroff, I want to go home! I have more than earned the right to go home like you said. You have kept me here 3 extra days trying to change my mind, but I haven't. I beat you! I managed to evade you for 3 days... I do not agree with what you do here and I just want to go home. If you are really a man of your word, then prove it to me Zaroff, right here, right now. Let me go home!  Zaroff: Very well, Mr.Rainsford. There is a boat waiting for you on the north shore. It should have enough supplies for you to reach the town, but be careful. Congrats on beating me and might I just say, it's a shame that you aren't staying.  We would've made a great pair.
