Hey everybody, I am going to talk about ureases. Useases are naturally occurring enzymes that hydrolyses into ammonium carbonate.
I need your help. We need to solve the mystery of the missing enzyme.
Hmm. Where could it be?
Well, they come from plants and microorganisms so lets check there!
We can find it by performing the buffer test that requires two ph buffers and a small amount of nutrients . It should turn red if it has urease in it. We need to find it because without it the stomach can't cope with the very acidic conditions. I see a bean, let's test it!
How can we find this thing and why do we need to find it anyway?
It uses urea hydrolysis to "jump start the reaction". Lets look at the results!
When in the reaction can we find this enzyme?
We got the results and its positive. Who will this benefit?
Everything and everyone! Without urease we wouldn't be able to plant crops and also without it bacteria in the liver and urinary track will invade the body. Wait we had urease in our body this whole time.
