  • Mercédès my Love,Monsieur Morrel wanted me to become the captain of his ship, but before that, I want to marry you. We will live a happy life.
  • That is a great news my Love! Yes, I will marry you!
  • Mercédès, why that you don't love me?
  • I saw that our dying captain handed a letter to Edmond. He always carry it and not let anyone read it.
  • Hmmm.. something's strange.. He might carry a letter from Napoleon.
  • No! There must be some error here Monsieurs!
  • I did not do anything wrong!! I am innocent! What crime did i commit?
  • Edmond Dantès, I arrest you in the name of the law.
  • 14 years in prison
  • At the age of nineteen, Edmond Dantès seems to have the perfect life. He is about to become the new captain of a French ship and engaged to a beautiful and kind woman named Mercédès. Dantès is also well-liked by most everyone who knows him.
  • Now my dear son, you know as much as I do, if ever we escape together half of my treasure is yours; if I die and you escape alone, the whole of it belongs to you.
  • But, this treasure belongs to you alone and I have no right to it.
  • You are my son Dantès. You are the child of my captivity
  • This life however, stirs up dangerous jealousy among Dantès' so-called friends: Fernand is in love with his fiancèe, Danglars, the treasurer of the ship, envies his early career success and Caderousse is simply envious that Dantès is so much luckier in life that he is.These three men drafted a letter accusing Dantès of treason. There is some truth to their accusation though.
  • Though Edmond  Dantès himself has no political learnings, the undertaking is  enough to implicate him for treason. On the day of his wedding, Dantès was arrested for his alleged crimes. The deputy prosecutor Monsieur Villefort was terrified that the letter from Napoleon was addressed to Noirtier, his own father. The reason which led Dantés to be sent to Château d'If.
  • I will find all of you and prepare yourselves for my revenge.
  • Dantès almost went crazy and lose hope at the prison until one day he heard a fellow prisoner burrowing nearby. He too begin digging and soon met Abbè Faria, an Italian priest and intellectual. He taught Dantès everything, turning him to a well-educated man and reaveled to Dantès a large treasure hidden on the Isle of Monte Cristo.
  • When Abbé Faria died,Dantès hid himself in the Abbés shroud, thrown into the sea and was able to cut himself loosed and swam to
  • Dantés disguised and emerged into society again, he is the very rich and very handsome Count of Monte Cristo.  He has two goals: to reward those who wre kind to him and to punish those responsible for his imprisonment. He planned a slow and painful punishment for them.
