It all takes place at Redlands' Boarding school, a British prepatory school. This action story set in a school revolves around the life of 2 boys Christopher and Toby
Its not a bad place as such schools go although Toby hates it. Toby Jenkins is a second year student there and thought he dreads the moment when the new term starts, he's made a kind of grim adjustment to the mindless rules and conformity demanded here.
Its Christopher, the new boy, who upsets it all. He seems completely unafraid of teachers or bullies and he tells Toby and Swann that he is Jesus Christ reborn and have special powers. Neither the reader nor either of the boys is ever sure whether that's delusion or reality.
"It's Jesus, I know it is."
Revolving around the conflict of trying to fit in with the group, Christopher is driven to the point madness as he makes claims and accusations much wider than what any would have expected from him.
They all suffer great derision when the secret gets out. Soon a war erupts between the town boys and the school boys at a river which divides the two classes. Christopher's miracles, if such they are, alternately thrill and frighten Toby and Toby is the Peter who denies Christopher when the chips are down.
It was the time when nobody had faith in Christoopher anymore, but then proved to everyone even the mean Rudolph that what he said was true. As a result, it strengthened the beliefs of Toby, Hunter, and Swann even more. Simon is expelled and goes home, smiling broadly.
