Mussolini was born on the 29th of July, 1883. He was born into a poor family. His dad was a local blacksmith.
He left for Switzerland with Karl Marx, but returned to Italy in 1904. He was then recognised as Italy’s youngest and dangerous Socialists. However, he was soon expelled from the Socialist party.
A group of people met to discuss politics. This is where Mussolini emerged as leader and where facism was created. It was also when they decided to bring down the government by marching through Rome.
He became Italy’s youngest prime minister on the 31st of October, 1922. This was when Italy became no longer democratic in order to restore order in the state.
Opposition parties, trade unions and free press was abolished. Free speech was included. Secret spies and policemen were infused into the population.
Didn’t lose support of industrialists and landowners. Propaganda prevented the people from thinking much. He also got the support of Hitler which greatly boosted his career.
This was also when he decided to enter the war. Italy joined the war on the 10th of June, 1940.
Italy had suffered great defeats and losses under Mussolini. This was when the Fascist Grand Council decided that he would be dismissed from the office.
He was hung in the Piazza Loreto in Milan whereby the crowds celebrated the fall of the dictator and the end of the war.
Well, I guess this is the end.
He was arrested and put in a hotel in the mountains. The Germans had managed to rescue him, however he was arrested again shortly after and was shot on the 28th of April, 1945.
