"I felt a little drunk anyways. I couldn't help wondering if maybe I was falling in love with her after all. It was a different feeling than I got with Sara" (pg 94)
Hampton is having an internal conflict with his feelings. Throughout the story, he's been developing feelings for Sara. However, Blaine doesn't like the idea of Hampton being with a nobody, so he set him up with Misty. Hampton is now unsure whether he likes Sara or Misty more.
Hampton talks about one time he picked up a razor blade & cut his hand, getting blood everywhere. He says "That's what being there with Misty reminded me of. Sara wasn't like that. There was nothing about being with Sara Reynolds that hurt." (pg 95)
"That's how I was, wandering around looking for someone to make my mind up for me. It's like Sara said back in history class that time--- if you don't know who you really are, how are you going to know what you think is right?" (pg 98)
