  • Rebecca Nurse is a well known grandmother of twenty-six, and is highly respected from the town. She cares about what the people think of her and her husband Francis Nurse.
  • Taken to Jail
  • They took my partner in crime!

  • Come on old lady, You've been charged for doing something that could break your back.
  • Open your mind with us and to God! Not unless you're down with the devil...
  • Many people of the town looked at Mrs. Nurse as a motherly figure. She had eleven children and knows the tricks and minds of every other child in the town. People were freaking out about how children are witches and Rebecca tells them to calm down; that she has seen them all through their mischief.
  • Trying to be Convicted
  • I hope I'm not down with the devil.
  • When Reverend Hale is at the Proctor's household, Giles comes in and says they took his wife and Rebecca Nurse. "They take my wife. And his Rebecca!" (67)
  • Rebecca Nurse is charged with murder. Someone accused her (we don't know who) of killing Goody Putnam's babies with witchcraft. "For the marvelous and supernatural murder of Goody Putnam's babies" (67)
  • How in the heck?!
  • Reverend Parris is skeptical of Rebecca Nurse; trying to taunt her into admitting she has some sort of connection with evil. "*striving for convition* why Rebecca, we may open up the boil of all our troubles today! ... I hope you do not mean we go to Satan here!"
