There was a young and beautiful lady, Madame Loisel who married a young man, M. Loisel. The man didn't have a high paying job, causing the family to be poor. The husband came home with a letter that was to a party.
The wife told the husband that she needed a dress, but didn't have enough money to buy it. The husband said that he had 400 francs that he had been saving, and he gave her the money. She also needed some jewelry, so she asked her friend and she let her borrow a beautiful diamond necklace.
The very next day after the party, the husband and wife got home and the wife realized that the wife had lost the necklace. The husband and wife searched for days to find it but never did.
The husband and wife went to the store knowing that the necklace was lost. They decided that they could just buy one that looked exactly like it. They went to the jewelry store and asked the person who was in there how much the diamond was. The person said 36 thousand francs. The wife and husband borrowed money. The wife took the new diamond to her friend without the friend knowing that it was't the same one.
After about 10 years the necklace was paid off. They husband and wife were relieved. The wife was walking the next day and saw her friend. The wife realized that she could tell her friend that she lost her necklace. The friend asked the wife why she had changed so much, she though she was a homeless person. The wife told her that she lost her necklace and bought her a new one, she also old her how much she paid for it. The friend said that the original necklace was a replica. Mamdame Loisel's life was ruined
