Storyboard Text

  • Northern Free States: Feelings about state additions?
  • I hate how congress added Missouri as a slave state!
  • Yes, but at least they gave us Maine to keep a balance of 12:12!
  • Northern Free States: Feelings about the 36-30 line?
  • I 'm so happy the country has a dividing line at 36-30! We'll also get more land as the country expands westward!
  • Northern Free States: Who was involved?
  • We hate the Southern Slave States!
  • They disliked any slave states being added to the US, but their opinions were somewhat counterbalanced when Maine was brought in to the keep the balance of 12:12.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about slave additions?
  • I love how we got Missouri as a slave state in the North!
  • Yes, but the North HAD to get another free state to keep a balance.
  • The Northern free states liked the 36-30 line since they “won” because they got more land out of it. They were also happy because they knew the country would expand more westward. However, once the US got Texas, peace broke apart.
  • Southern Slave States: Feelings about the 36-30 line?
  • I just love how the 36:30 line was made! Now, we can make more and more slave states in the South!
  • Daniel Webster, Henry Clay, and John C. Calhoun are all resulted in the compromise.
  • Southern Slave States: Who was involved?
  • We hate the Northern Free States!
  • The southerners liked having Missouri come in as a slave state in the North, but disliked having Maine coming in another free state. This compromise kept the slave states vs free states equally balanced 12:12.
  • They were glad about this line because they were able to achieve more land with this new policy. It made it that they could make more states slave states.
  • Millard Douglas, Henry Clay,  and Zachary Taylor
