One day, the birds didn't return with the alligators. The fish and spider didn't ask the alligators where they had gone. They kept their heads low and followed orders.
One day, the fish disappeared as well. "Where did my fishy friends go?" the spider asked the alligators. "We sent them away," the alligators replied, "And we'll send you away too if you don't listen to us."
The spider hid in the trees, vowing to not fall for the alligator's tricks. He would not be caught in their trap! He'd just have to hide until they went away.
The alligators came back and could not find the spider. "Good, now we won't have to deal with it." The alligators left, moving on to find the next group of their victims.
The spider crawled back down from the tree once the alligators had left and vowed to warn others of their horrid ways. He had stayed quiet before, and look where that had gotten him. His friends were gone and he was all alone.
