Durga Maa has ten arms and rides a tiger into battle!
Why are all the guy workers teaching math, and all the girls teaching English?
I know how to do that problem...
Yo bro, do you know how to do this problem?
My dad told me to look at her as a reminder to never let anyone tell me I couldn't do something, or that I was inferior to anyone.
I am not going to allow my boss to assume that I can't do math just because I am a girl.
Some years went by; I was in high school now. I began my first job at a tutoring center. I started my first week, and noticed something very interesting about where the employees were assigned to work.
I'm taking advanced calculus right now.
If my boss had bothered to ask me, she would have known that I was currently two levels above the rest of my grade in math. Not only would I enjoy teaching math more, I was probably better at it than some of my male coworkers.
Durga Maa wouldn't let a man do a job that she could do better...
Finally after weeks of me doing nothing but teaching alphabet sounds, I decided to ask my boss if I could transfer into a math tutor
For the first time in the two months I worked there, my boss asked me what level math I was taking in high school. And for the remainder of my time working there, I was a math tutor for the advanced mathematics students.
Math is just something I feel better equipped teaching.
Taking the initiative to confront my boss was not an easy decision for me. But when I got home from work and saw our statue of Durga Maa, I knew that standing up for myself was the right choice.
