  • A intake is the amout of food or lquid that is ingested while the output is the amount that is exherted out of the body.
  • Hello Mr. Sikowitz. I see that you just came out of surgery, how are you feeling today? Have you eaten anything since the surgery?
  • I feel a little bit fatigued and tired. And no, I have not eaten yet.
  • That explains why you're fatigued! I'll prepare your meal.
  • It's very important to measure how much food is ingested in the first place. The Intake is the amount of foods or liquids a patient ingests. The outtake is the amount of foods or liquids that a patient will, well, output. If the amount of food in the output is not the same as the intake, then that means something is wrong with the patient.
  • I write the measurements in a chart called a intake/output chart. This will help me keep track of the patients intake and output of foods and medicines.
  • Mr. Sikowitz! I have your meal ready! Let me know if theres any more problems!
