A intake is the amout of food or lquid that is ingested while the output is the amount that is exherted out of the body.
Hello Mr. Sikowitz. I see that you just came out of surgery, how are you feeling today? Have you eaten anything since the surgery?
I feel a little bit fatigued and tired. And no, I have not eaten yet.
That explains why you're fatigued! I'll prepare your meal.
It's very important to measure how much food is ingested in the first place. The Intake is the amount of foods or liquids a patient ingests. The outtake is the amount of foods or liquids that a patient will, well, output. If the amount of food in the output is not the same as the intake, then that means something is wrong with the patient.
I write the measurements in a chart called a intake/output chart. This will help me keep track of the patients intake and output of foods and medicines.
Mr. Sikowitz! I have your meal ready! Let me know if theres any more problems!
