  • I'm Boyle, Robert William Boyle. I was born in 25 January 1627 at Lismore Castle, County Waterford, Ireland. I was interested in understanding air as an essential element of life.
  • I'm Robert Hooke. I worked with Robert Boyle at Oxford. 
  • I left Ireland in 1964 and went to Oxford to pursue my scientific research.
  • After reading in 1657 of Otto von Guericke's air pump. We devised improvements in its construction, and with the result, the "machina Boyleana" or "Pneumatical Engine", finished in 1659, and began a series of experiments on the properties of air.
  • Oh Yeah ! I'm his right arm.
  • With Hooke assistances, I created J-tube that combined with mercury to run experiments.
  • The world will remember my name, muah ha ha ha !!!
  • After many experiments, I made my first mention of the law that the volume of a gas varies inversely with the pressure of the gas when I used a closed J-shaped tube and after pouring mercury from one side I forced the air on the other side to contract under the pressure of mercury. In 1662, I published "Boyle's law".
  • Hard work pays off. I'm so happy, so smart. Oh yeah !!!
  • Mathematically, my law can be stated as PV = k (K = constant)
  • In my law (Boyle's law), the pressure is P, the volume is V. Constant variables are the number of molecule (n) and temperature (T).
