Athena is the goddess of wisdom, war craft, and many things. She favors Odysseus, so she has been trying to help him as much as she can. She could shape-shift into many forms, so that she could ensure that Odysseus would arrive home safely. Other than that, Athena is also very wise as to not use her goddess form in order to not provoke Poseidon, the god of the seas, even further.
Penelope is the queen of Ithaca. She has been waiting for Odysseus for a very long time ever since he went on and fought in the Trojan War. She has a very cunning and is very wise, but she is also a caring mother for her son. She is very sad because her husband has not been home, and there have been suitors who are vying for the position of king of Ithaca.
Telemachus is the son of Penelope and Odysseus. He is very mad at the suitors because they continued acting like barbarians in his house. Telemachus grew up without a dad, so he longed for his dad, and is about to go traveling in search for news about his dad whether he is dead or alive.
Calypso is a nymph, or a goddess. She is the daughter of Atlas, and she lives in a cave at the island Ogygia, and she is making Odysseus stay with her for seven years. She has blond hair like the sun, and pretty, blue eyes. Calypso loves Odysseus so much that she wants to make him an immortal to stay with her forever, but later she let him go because Zeus told Hermes to tell her to let him go.
Odysseus is a famous warrior, and he used his brains to help the soldiers win against the soldiers of Troy. Later, when his ship was destroyed by Zeus' lightning, he drifted to Calypso's island and was imprisoned for seven years. Every single day, he would go sit at the shore thinking of his home and his wife. After he was let go, he used his brains to get through many obstacles, and he knew how to use his words to make people do what he wants them to do.
Zeus is the god of the heavens. He was mad at Odysseus at first, so he destroyed Odysseus' ship making him go to Calypso's island. Later, when Athena came to beg him to let Odysseus go, he decided to let Hermes go tell Calypso to let Odysseus go.
