Storyboard Text

  •
  • Jonas begins his training with The Giver as the new Receiver Of Memory. Jonas receives a happy memory, which is about snow. He goes down a hill on top of a sled and starts to feel things, but they are unexplainable as he is fairly new to getting memories.
  • Jonas tries to explain to his peers all these emotions he is feeling, but due to Sameness they will be unable to understand. Sameness is basically taking out everything from everyone that makes you unique and/or special. This bring up the topic about seeing color, which is something the community gave up in order to have Sameness. Jonas learns what 'seeing beyond' means when The Giver explains to him that their world once had color. Seeing beyond means you are eligible to see color, Jonas experienced this a few times ( the apple, Fiona's hair)
  • Not only did Jonas receive memories about happiness and/joyfulness he also experienced some memories about pain. These memories include emotional and physical pain. These memories are elephants being hunted, where he felt emotional pain, sunburn, hunger and Warfare, where he felt all types of physical pain.
  • Jonas comes up with an idea of destroying the community sameness.  He has to get Giver  if he fell into the river and was lost. He replied that every memory that the giver has transmitted to Jonas would return to the people and sameness will no longer be with the community.  So the giver and Jonas decide that things in the community must change. They both talk until very late developing a plan in order to save the people in the community.
  •  He will leave a note and his parents will find the next morning stating that he’s gone for a bicycle ride. He will leave his bike and some clothing by the river then go to the annex. In the morning The Giver a request to vehicle and driver, then Jonas would get into the storage area of the car. Everyone in the community will know that Jonas is really missing, they will do a search party and see that he’s fallen into the river. The Giver would go back to help the people in the community cope with Jonas' death.
  • Jonas makes his escape and his plans change, Gabe were to be released in the morning, so he takes him. Jonas experiences many things including hunger. Search planes are constantly looking for him and Gabe during the day so he changes to riding at night and sleeping during the day, eating whatever he can find and drinking water from a stream nearby. Many days pass by and memories that Jonas has given Gabe,  were becoming dimmer and slowly fading away, but Jonas and Gabe go up a mountain and use a sled to arrive in Elsewhere.
