  •  On the 2nd September 1666, the great fire of London begun. Houses were built too close together and were made of flammable materials.

  • In a bakery on Pudding lane, Thomas Farriner forgot to turn his oven off before going to bed.
  • While he was sleeping something happened...
  • The Great Fire of London had begun! The gusty winds spread the fire from the bakery all through the buildings of London.
  • Samuel Pepys kept a diary of events. He buried his cheese and wine to protect it from fire.
  • The fire burned for five whole days. In the end they pulled down houses to stop the spread and built a new London. Thousands of people lost their homes in the fire.
