In Maycomb, Alabama, Jem and Dill visit the local scary and spooky house, the Radley House, that is occupied by "Boo" Radley.
Tom Robinson, a local black man, is accused of raping a woman by the name of Mayella. Aticus Finch, father of Jem and Scout, are asked to represent and defend him in court and Aticus has to overcome his prejudice against black people.
Aticus chooses to defend Tom and deal with the scrutiny he and his family faces for being the "family that defended a black man"
Aticus fails to prove the innocence and the kids feels so bad that an innocent man is going to be sent to the electric chair.
Bob Ewell approaches Aticus and Mrs. Robinson, threatening them. Bob has made his position clear on how much he is disgusted by black people and the children fear him.
Bob Ewell goes berserk and tries to kill Jem and Scout in front of the Radley house. "Boo" Radley comes out of his house and takes Bob's knife and saves the kids.
